Autumn Fair

On Sunday, 15^th Apil, many months of planning by the Autumn Fair committee ...



... led by Suzanne ...

... culminated in this year's Village Fair.


There were many stalls including ...

... craft ...





... white elephant ...





... books ...



...scrap booking ..



... jewelery and candle making.

There was plenty to eat and drink ...

... from the sausage sizzle ...



... scones, jam and cream ...



... and Tony's coffee.



Entertainment abounded including ...

... a jazz band ...



... dance group ...



... reptile display ...







... and for the kids ...

... jumping castle ...



... and face painting ...





It wasn't all fun and frivolity, of cause, as there was some serious marketing of the new villas, and residents got a peek at them as too ...



Thanks again to Suzanne and her committee for organising this great day as well as to the large number of Villagers who pitched in and helped ...

Stockland Bowling Day

On 26th April, Stockland held its inter-village bowling day.

Residents of ten other Villages came to bowl on our Green that was opened last October.





We saw some fancy bowling ...



... enjoyed morning tea ...






... listened to the Jazz Band ...



... got a drink from our Village Bar Men ...



... browsed the Village Craft Shop ...



... ate lunch (provided by the Village Caterer - Select One) ...







... presented the runner up trophy to Burnside ...



... and the winners trophy to La Trobe ...

Te Aka Matua

On Sunday, 20^th November, some members of the Maori Cultural Group, Te Aka Matua, came to the Village to perform.

Craft fete 2011

Last Saturday (19^th November) the annual Craft Fete was held in the Village Community Centre ...






Many residents have toiled over many months making a wide variety of craft items ...



... as well as cakes and jams.

This year there was a new innovation of a fruit and veggie stall ...



After making their purchases residents could enjoy a morning (Devonshire) tea ...



... and later a BBQ lunch ...



Thanks to those many residents who made and sold the items and to those who came to purchase.

It was another very successful village community event, raising $2682.

Opening the bowling green

On Tuesday 18^th October the Village bowling green (and associated landscaping) was opened ...



... which vastly improves the vista from the community centre ...



Soon after 11:00 am residents began gathering in the community centre ...



... with plenty of convivial fellowship ...



After a delicious lunch ...



... Bruce Rosan spoke and announced that Lorraine Bloxham would officially open the green ...



... to which Lorraine expressed her thanks ...



... and then untied the ribbon at the green ...



Rodney Ashfield ...



... and Frank Edwards were the first to bowl ...



Many residents then adjourned to the community center for drinks ...



... including coffee from our very own barista, Tony.

Fellowship Anniversary Lunch

This is a guest post by Ruth Blake.



On Monday 29/8/11, The Village Fellowship celebrated their 4th birthday with a luncheon.



Twenty five folk squeezed into the Friendship room for a meal hosted by the Bible Study Group.

Our own 'in house' Master Chef (Katerina) created a gorgeous specialty cake.



There were gifts, the first opened was a very useful table top lectern ...



... presented by our friend Mick Bloxham.



This will be made available to other groups upon request.

The second parcel contained a wall clock already in place for the benefit of all users of the room.



If laughter and chatter are the measure of valued time together then it can safely be said that a good time was had by all.

Gordon McKenzie

Last Tuesday, Gordon McKenzie visited our Village to present a concert.



Many Villagers attended and had a great time ...
