When we entered the Garden Colin informed us of important facts about the site. It is four hectares (almost 10 acres) in area, with about 5000 different plants, and 600 different varieties of rose. Colin is one of about 100 volunteers who maintain the plants - pruning, dead-heading, mulching and the like. The idea of a State Rose Garden was first proposed in 1976 and the Garden opened officially in 1986.

The garden's layout has a floral theme; a Tudor Rose with a Bud (David Austin) and a Leaf (Australian Federation, with 50 beds of Australian bred roses). The plan of the site can be clearly seen in the aerial photograph below:

The photo below gives an overall view of the garden.

There were many attractive blooms to be admired as we wandered amongst the plants ...

A very big thank you to Colin for showing us over the Garden
I am quite pleased with one of the photographs, can you guess which one? Answers in the comments please.

Steve, the photos are magnificant, a couple of them I will print on photographic paper and put them into a frame. I think you were particularly pleased with the rose in a circle, very artistic. Suzanne
