Morning Tea

Wednesday morning, the Fellowship Group hosted a ladies morning tea.

Ruth Blake welcomed guests. Before introducing the MC, Jean Bohmer - below - Ruth warmed up the audience with a few stories including the following:

A man walked into a department store and shyly told the woman behind the counter that he would like to buy a bra for his wife.
"What type of bra?", asked the assistant. "Type?", inquired the man, "There's more than one type?"

"Look around", said the sales lady, as she showed a sea of bras in every shape, size, colour and material imaginable.
"Actually, even with all this variety, there are really only four types of bras to choose from."
Relieved, the man asked about the types. The sales lady replied: "There are the Catholic, The Salvation Army, the Presbyterian, and the Baptist types. Which one would you prefer?"
Now totally befuddled, the man asked about the differences between them. The sales lady responded, "It's really simple ...
The Catholic supports the masses. The Salvation Army type lifts up the fallen, the Presbyterian type keeps them staunch and upright, AND the Baptist makes mountains out of molehills!!"

PS There is also a German Bra - Holtzemfromfloppen!

After a delicious morning tea ...

... Jean introduced the entertainers.

Catherine Garcia sang four songs (two brackets of two songs).
One of the songs was Sister Suzie Sewing Shirts For Soldiers.

Catherine encouraged the audience to join in the chorus ...

Sister Susie's sewing shirts for soldiers,

Such skill at sewing shirts our shy young sister Susie shows.

Some soldiers send epistles saying they'd

Sooner sleep in thistles,

Than the saucy, soft short, shirts for soldiers, sister Susie sews.

The tempo of the song sped up as Catherine sang it.

Catherine finished with Morning has Broken
Many people later commented on how beautifully Catherine sang.

The next entertainer was the Village's resident musician, Glenda Horne.

Most in the Village already know how well Glenda plays the saxafone and she didn't disappoint with four beautiful, soulful songs - Feeling Good, I Get the Sweetest Feeling, and two Henry Mancini hits, The Sweetheart Tree, and Dear Heart.

The final entertainment, was standup comedy from Ruth Blake ...

... with a hilarious presentation of A letter from Marge.

The slide show below shows photographs of the event ...

... and here is a link to the photos.

Thanks to the Fellowship Group for a very enjoyable morning.

Although it was a women's event, there were three blokes present ...

... John and George were waiters, and Steve attended as the Village online reporter.

Enjoyed re- living the morning tea via the pics!
Not too fond of the photo of moi though. Do I really look that strange?. Must do something about it right away. Although they say the camera never lies. This time I dispute that!
Thanks Stephen. jean B
