Anzac Day 2010

On the afternoon of Saturday, 24th April, 2010, many residents attended the Village Anzac Day service.

Peter O'Connor welcomed residents and then spoke of the Anzac Tradition.

Jean Bohmer read the Anzac Requium

We sang the traditional hym, Abide With Me, accompanied by the Werribee Concert Band

A wreath and flowers were laid at the foot of the flag.

They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old:
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun, and in the morning
We will remember them.

Frank Edwards raised the flag, and then Reville was played.

In Flanders Fields was read by Ruth Blake

To complete the service we sang God Save the Queen and Advance Australia Fair

When we had finished afternoon tea, the Werribee Concert Band performed.

Here is the last piece that they played ...

... which was enjoyed by many residents ...

Some residents wore service medals proudly ...

The younger generation were also involved. Ruth Blake and two of her grandchildren displayed Ruth's father's medals:

Thank you to Peter O'Connor, Jean Bohmer, Ruth Blake, Rodney Ashfield and the many other residents who assisted in the organisation and presentation of the service; as well as to the Werrbee Concert Band.

Thank you Stephen for the wonderful presentation you have prepared. As the Tarneit Skies family, I think we can all be very proud of the meaningful service put together by Pater O'Connor and all of those residents who paid tribute enhanced of course by the Werribee Concert Band. Jean Bohmer
